The Director of Statistics and Information in the Civil Protection, Colonel Farouk Ashour, said that 19,000 civil protection agents were recruited at the level of 505 intervention units, as part of the campaign to combat forest fires during this summer, as the regional units were reinforced with the necessary means to combat the fires.
Today, Sunday, the speaker mentioned to the program “Guest of the Morning” for the second radio channel, that the regional units for intervention have been strengthened with the necessary means to confront forest fires, in addition to 4 regional centers for support at the level of the wilayas of Chlef, El Tarf, Tizi Ouzou and Bouira. It was also decided to strengthen the capabilities of the apparatus with 7 helicopters, including one helicopter belonging to the National People’s Army, and an aircraft that was acquired, in addition to renting 10 water-bombing aircraft to combat forest fires this year, which will be located in Chlef, Bejaia, and Annaba.
On the other hand, Ashour referred to the creation of a brigade of motorcycles, used for rapid interventions in order to aid the injured, with the aim of reducing the time between the request for help and the arrival of aids, and these teams will enter into service at the level of the major states.
