In pictures.. Arkab receives professors of researchers in the field of mining – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryya

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received today, Thursday, at the Ministry’s headquarters, Professor Rabah Kechiched, from the Faculty of Hydrocarbons, Renewable Energies, Earth Sciences and the Universe, at the University of Kasdi Merbah, Ouargla, who specializes in phosphate research, as well as Professor Sukar Abdel Raouf, from the University of Science and Technology Houari. Boumediene.

The meeting was attended by the executives and advisors of the minister from the mining sector, and Mr. President, the general director of the Geological Service Agency of Algeria.

The meeting centered on the valuation of mining resources and the development of the mining field in Algeria, especially the rare earth elements (earths and rare minerals), similar to those found in phosphate ores, and the results obtained in terms of science on geological and technical issues in this field.

The two research professors also reviewed the latest research in the field of valuation of mineral resources and investment in the mineral wealth that abounds in the subsoil of Algeria, especially in the great south, especially those minerals whose properties are extensively researched in many advanced applications, given that they are the basis for the high-tech industry.

The description of the dust as rare, according to the research professors, is due to the fact that it contains exceptional minerals, such as “scandium”, “yttrium” and “lanthanides”, which are all minerals with specific chemical specifications, used in the latest technological means.

The rare earths, which Algeria abounds in, contain minerals that have special chemical characteristics, and cannot be accessed except in rare regions around the world.

On this occasion, the Minister of Energy and Mines affirmed his full support for the work and research of research professors in this field, and called for the formation of a working group to deepen discussions and exchanges, with the aim of supporting research and training in the field of laboratory and technological research for researchers, especially those who frame research in universities of science and technology throughout the national territory. And all in order to diversify the sources of financing the national economy and in order to stimulate development for the mining sector, especially in the areas of exploration, development and exploitation, as well as the involvement of Algerian competence in the field of research and development.
