The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed that Algeria will continue to provide all possibilities and conditions to promote investment and improve and protect the country’s business climate, whether for the benefit of Algerian or foreign investors.
In his speech at the opening of the International Forum on “The Lawyer’s Role in Accompanying Investment and Settlement of Disputes”, President Tebboune said on his behalf, the Counselor at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Legal and Judicial Affairs, Boualem Boualem, and in the presence of the Prime Minister, Ayman Ben Abdelrahman, that investment is among the “ strategic priorities.”
President Tebboune said, “The economic operators, whether Algerian or foreign, should be convinced that Algeria has worked and will continue to work to provide all the basic building blocks to support investment, improve the business climate, and protect it from any impurities that may hinder or restrict them in carrying out their activities and businesses in our country.”
The President of the Republic indicated that investment, whether internal or external, is considered one of the “strategic priorities for Algeria within the framework of the new orientation adopted by the state in this field, given the requirements of development and in light of international changes that have direct repercussions on the economies of countries.”
The president pointed out that the November 2020 constitution assigned investment an important place in achieving development, diversifying the national economy and ensuring its sustainability.
He stressed the importance of the reforms initiated by the state to support investment, especially at the legislative, regulatory, administrative and institutional levels, especially in the sectors of finance, banking, industry and agriculture. Investment, trade and entrepreneurship.
Participants in this two-day international meeting will study a number of axes such as investment, energy and competition, jurisprudence in the field of investment, settlement of disputes in the field of investment as well as investment in regional free trade zones, the new legal framework regulating investment in Algeria and relevant applied texts. with it.
The second day of the forum, which is organized by the National Union of Algerian Lawyers’ Organizations in partnership with the Ministry of Justice and in cooperation with the International Bar Association, is devoted to workshops that will discuss issues of mediation, arbitration, investment protection, as well as lawyer and digitization.
