Zabadi raises proposals to protect Algerians from the “silent killer” – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryya

The Algerian Organization for Consumer Protection announced a set of proposals, which it described as “important and urgent,” in order to protect citizens from the dangers of heating gases, which claimed the lives of dozens of citizens during the month of January only, including entire families.

Today, Sunday, the Algerian Organization for Consumer Protection confirmed its adoption of a number of demands and asked the government to take them into consideration, related to the abolition of all taxes on central heating appliances and their accessories. The organization also called for the activation of the consumer loan for these appliances, and to encourage and facilitate their manufacture locally with quality specifications. and universal matching.

In the same context, the organization called for central heating to be provided to the buildings under construction, in all their forms. On the other hand, the civil protection interests called on citizens to contribute to saving their families and protecting themselves from the dangers of the silent killer, as more than 50 cases of death from carbon monoxide poisoning were saved in just one day. And the statistics of the civil protection services indicate that 49 deaths have been recorded and 660 have been rescued since the beginning of January.

The Civil Protection confirms that catastrophic errors were recorded in the installation of heaters and water heaters, and called for refraining from placing the water heater in the bathroom, and providing the water heater and heater with a smoke disposal channel, and making sure that they are free of any obstruction such as bird nests. Among the tips is to check the upper and lower ventilation openings, and to refrain from using the “table” for heating and bringing it into the bathroom. The Civil Protection calls on building owners to monitor the main smoke channel from the top and make sure that it is not blocked by birds’ nests, as well as to monitor the color of the flame, if it is blue, then combustion is normal, but if it is yellow, orange or red, there is a danger to the life of the citizen.

The source indicates that there are other sources of carbon monoxide gas, such as coal, embers, car exhausts, and engines, where the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning are according to the percentage and concentration of carbon monoxide gas, including headaches, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness, and jerk. If the victim is exposed to a higher percentage, he loses consciousness, which leads to death.

And the people who showed these symptoms should stop the gas from the main tap directly and ventilate the house, and if necessary, remove the victims from the house and call the civil protection services on the emergency number 14 and the green line 1021.
