The Algerian national team was drawn in the first group, along with the teams of Senegal, Togo and Somalia.
The lottery process came after the end of the qualifying rounds that took place across the continent, which resulted in 11 African teams joining the Algerian national team, the host of the tournament, and it is related to the teams of Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Cameroon, Morocco, Congo and Zambia.
It is known that the African Cup of Nations for under 17 years is in Algiers, Constantine, and Annaba, which is currently hosting the activities of the African Championship for local players (January 13-February 4, 2023).
The first-round competitions will result in the qualification of the first and second place holders, as well as the two best elected from the third-place holders, to the quarter-finals.
