The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, today, Saturday in Algeria, expressed his satisfaction with the “great success” witnessed by the organization of the African Nations Championship for local players (CHAN-2022), noting that “Algeria succeeded in its bet.”
Motsebi said in a press conference devoted to presenting the outcome of the African Championship for Locals 2022: “The organization of CHAN-2022 has achieved great success on all logistical levels, as well as the public attendance, which gave a very special touch to this seventh edition of the competition.
I warmly thank the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for his great support in making this African date a success.”
And after reaffirming that the seventh edition of the “Chan” was the best among all the sessions, the CAF President indicated on this occasion that, “Algeria scored positive points in the field of organization, and that the Algerian people can only be proud of what was presented during this session.” .
And the first man of African football took this opportunity to call on African countries to respect the internal laws of CAF and FIFA, explaining that his body “has opened an investigation into Morocco’s absence from this version.”
In this context, Motsepe said: “We have internal laws that govern the African Commission, and everyone should be aware of that. Morocco has announced its participation, and Algeria, as host country, has taken all measures to receive it in the best conditions.”
The CAF President also touched on the issue of organizing the African Cup of Nations (CAN-2025), which Algeria nominated to organize, explaining the following: “The most important thing for us is that the members of the Executive Office choose the country organizing Can-2025 in an atmosphere of transparency and sports ethics.
The decision will be taken by all members, and I will personally ensure that things go smoothly and in full respect for the laws.”
Mutsyi added, saying: “We have not yet taken any date to reveal the country organizing Cannes-2025, because CAF simply wants to make the right decision away from any haste, and according to the criteria stipulated in the field of organizing such competitions.”
The curtain will fall on the seventh edition of the affair, this evening, Saturday (20:30), with the final match that will bring together the Algerian national team with its Senegalese counterpart at the “Nelson Mandela” stadium in Baraki (Algeria).
