The outputs of the government meeting – the Algerian dialogue

Today, Wednesday, the Prime Minister, Ayman bin Abdul Rahman, chaired a meeting of the government, which was held at the government palace.

According to the prime minister’s statement of interests, the government studied the following points during its weekly meeting:

In the field of agriculture:

The government has studied a draft executive decree that includes the abolition of the classification of a plot of land belonging to the National Forest of Sin El-Baa, located in the municipality of Djelfa (Wilaya of Djelfa), submitted by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

It should be noted that this piece of land will be allocated for the construction of a bypass road for the city of Djelfa, which falls within the framework of the dualization of National Road No. level of this state.

The areas subject to declassification will be compensated through the process of planting trees at the level of similar areas.

And in the field of energy:

The government listened to a presentation by the Minister of Energy and Mines regarding the national strategy for the development of refining and petrochemicals.

In this regard, it was recalled that the valuation of hydrocarbons constitutes a strategic axis in diversifying the national economy, especially through the development of refining and the establishment of a petrochemical industry, the aim of which is to increase the volume of hydrocarbon resources that are the subject of valuation.

In this context, the proposed endeavor is based on attracting partners and selecting profitable projects with high added value to the national market and the comparative advantages granted by the national economic environment.

In the field of culture:

The government listened to a presentation by the Minister of Culture and Arts, related to the rich cultural heritage of the five existing cultural hangars: Tassili N’Ajjer, Al-Ahggar, Touat-Guarara, Tidiclet, the Saharan Atlas, and Tindouf, as well as the project to establish a cultural hangar for the Aures oases systems.

On this occasion, the most important international mechanisms adopted by our country in the framework of protecting cultural sanctuaries were highlighted, similar to the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Man and the Biosphere Program.

and the Program for the Recognition and Reporting of Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures initiated by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (UICN), as well as the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. It is worth noting that these cultural pens have benefited from several projects within the framework of the United Nations Development Program, such as the project to preserve the environmental diversity of the pens of Ahaggar and Tassili N’Ajjer, and the project for the conservation of biological diversity of global importance and the sustainable use of ecosystem services.

Finally, in the field of public works:

The Minister of Public Works, Irrigation and Basic Facilities presented a presentation on (1) the status of highway projects, the extent of their implementation and the conditions for their completion, (2) the conditions for putting into service the toll payment stations at the level of the east-west highway.

This presentation highlighted the progress of some major projects approved within the framework of the Master Plan for Road and Highway Facilities (2005-2025), particularly:

  1. Economic exploitation of the East-West Highway, especially by putting into service stations for paying tolls in this facility.
  2. The completion of 24 car connections to connect the states’ headquarters with the ports, over a total distance of about 3,249 km.

In this regard, an emergency plan was drawn up in order to determine priorities for relaunching the pending projects according to an integrated economic approach, which would unite efforts and implement basic facilities for the benefit of economic development and citizen well-being.
