Today, Tuesday, associations and organizations specialized in the field of trade and consumer protection appreciated the instructions given by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the government, in order to control, organize and supply the market with basic materials during the holy month of Ramadan.
In this context, the President of the National Association of Algerian Merchants and Craftsmen, Hajj Taher Boulenouar, welcomed these measures aimed at ensuring an abundance of foodstuffs that are in high demand, especially during the holy month, such as meat, oil and other consumables, as well as maintaining price stability.
In this regard, Boulenouar indicated that given “the information gathered in the field by those concerned with supplying the market and production, including producers, farmers, factory owners, and representatives of wholesale and retail markets, there will be no scarcity in the abundance of foodstuffs in general and of widespread consumption in particular during the month of Ramadan.”
In the same context, the head of the association praised the decision to open neighboring markets, especially during the month of Ramadan, stressing that this measure would “encourage producers to increase production and contribute to price stability.”
For his part, the head of the Algerian Organization for Consumer Protection, Mustapha Zebdi, praised the attention that the President of the Republic attaches to the preparatory process for the holy month of Ramadan, in which there is a high demand for widely consumed materials, highlighting in the same context President Tebboune’s emphasis on the need to “stay away from austerity in the provision of basic materials.” For citizens and work gradually to direct towards a healthy consumption pattern for the Algerian individual.
In this regard, Zubdi stressed that changing the consumption pattern of the Algerian citizen is among the demands of his organization, pointing out, by the way, that achieving healthy food for the Algerian citizen requires the concerted efforts of many concerned sectors.
In turn, the head of the National Society for Consumer Protection (Al-Aman), Hassan Minwar, praised the procedures that the President of the Republic ordered to implement regarding organizing the market and providing foodstuffs.
He considered that the problem does not lie in the abundance of food, but rather in the distribution process.
In this regard, he highlighted the necessity of adopting “follow-up through digitization” in order to ensure the balance of the market and the abundance of foodstuffs that the citizen needs during the holy month and the rest of the months of the year, in order to avoid speculation.
For his part, the head of the Algerian Organization for Consumer Defense (Hemayatek), Mohamed Issawi, commended the decisions of the President of the Republic regarding the regulation and balance of the market during the holy month, especially his status of “citizen’s health at the center of the government’s concern,” noting that these measures fall within the framework of “protecting capacity.” Purchasing for the citizen and blocking the way for speculators.
Regarding the trend towards a healthy consumption pattern, Mr. Issawi stressed that the promotional offers that are usually known during the holy month of Ramadan “should not be at the expense of the health of the citizen,” stressing in this regard the importance of adopting control and respecting the standards and conditions required in this field.
It is noteworthy that the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, had directed the government, during his presidency yesterday, Monday, of a cabinet meeting, with more control and organization regarding the supply of markets during the holy month of Ramadan, “to avoid any form of oscillation and speculation.”
President Tebboune also stressed the necessity of “moving away from austerity in providing basic materials to citizens and gradually working towards directing towards a healthy consumption pattern for the individual.”
