The National Gendarmerie seizes a huge amount of spoiled meat in Touggourt – El Hewar Algeria

The regional brigade of the National Gendarmerie in Touggourt seized more than 17 quintals of spoiled white and red meat, destined for human consumption, the National Gendarmerie Command said Thursday in a statement.
This operation, which falls within the framework of combating corruption, suppressing fraud, and consumer protection, took place this week, “following the arrest of a truck designated for refrigerated transportation at a control and inspection point, with a significant amount of meat on board, with a total weight of more than 17 quintals, destined for consumption on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan.”
And after “monitoring the administrative documents of the truck and the documents that allow him to practice this activity, as well as the safety of the product, it was found that he did not own them, despite his use of the camouflage method to hide the meat,” according to the same source.
And in coordination with the veterinary affiliated with the agricultural departments of Touggourt and the trade departments – the same source adds – “it was confirmed that the goods were spoiled and unfit for human consumption, as a result of which the aforementioned goods were seized with violations related to illegal slaughter being issued, the lack of stamping on meat, the absence of a certificate Hygienic, identical to chicken, with no respect for the cold chain, non-compliance with the mandatory security of the product for human consumption (spoiled meat).

The violations also included “not respecting the conditions of hygiene and transportation, deceiving the consumer with booklets, pamphlets, pamphlets, posters, advertisements, cards, or any other instructions, so that, after completing all the necessary legal procedures, a judicial file is prepared against the concerned and submitted before the representative of the republic at the Tougart court.” In addition to seizing and destroying the aforementioned quantity.

In this context, the National Gendarmerie Command reminds that the green number (1055) and the prior complaints site PPGN.MDN.DZ remain at the disposal of citizens to report such suspicious practices.
