The literary critic and professor of Arabic language and literature at the University of Algiers 2, Othman Badri, passed away today, Saturday, in Algiers, according to what his surroundings knew.
The late, who was born in Tebessa, studied Arabic language and literature at Cairo University in Egypt, where he obtained a master’s and doctorate before joining the University of Algiers, where he held the position of professor of Arabic language and literature at the University of Algiers 2, and supervised many doctoral students.
Badri was also a member of the Supreme Council of the Arabic Language and the Algerian Writers Union, and he participated in many Algerian, Arab and international forums.
The late author has several critical publications, including “Building the Main Character in Naguib Mahfouz’s Novels” and “The Function of Language in the Realist Narrative Discourse of Naguib Mahfouz,” as well as “Peaks and Models of Modern Arabic Literature” and “Vision of Reality in the Contemporary Algerian Novel.”
He also completed a pioneering study in the field of university education in the Arab world, entitled “The bet on higher education in the Arab world between internal and external challenges.”
