Cabinet meeting.. raising the retirement grant, reducing the cost of Hajj, and hiring 12,000 physical education teachers – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

Today, Abdel Majeed Tebboune, President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers, which was devoted to reviewing retirement grants, and joint proposals between ministerial sectors related to urban police, desalination of sea water, and the achievement of Media City, in addition to two presentations related to sports in schools. Primary school, and preparations for the Hajj season for the year 2023.

After the President of the Republic opened the session, and listened to the Prime Minister’s presentation of the outcome of the government’s activities for the last two weeks, the President gave the following orders, instructions, and directives:

Regarding the review of retirement and solidarity grants… raising the solidarity grant to 12,000 dinars

The Council of Ministers approved the amendment of the Pension Law to adapt it to the exceptional increases in grants and pensions, which were approved by the President of the Republic in January 2023, reiterating his commitment to continue the strategy of improving the standard of living of citizens, including retirees as a category that has provided a lot to Algeria during the years of service, and it deserves all gratitude and appreciation.

The President of the Republic also decided, in a first stage, to raise the solidarity grant to 12,000 dinars for those who receive 10,000 dinars, and to 7,000 dinars for those who currently receive 3,000 dinars, as the review will include nearly one million beneficiaries.

Regarding preparations for the Hajj season for the year 2023…reducing the cost of Hajj to 770,000 dinars

The Council of Ministers agreed to reduce the cost of Hajj to 770,000 dinars instead of 850,000 dinars, which is the original cost for last year.

Concerning school sports… Employing 12,000 graduated specialized teachers to supervise school sports

Mr. President appreciated the step of preparing a real grassroots plan for school sports to open new horizons for young people as a reservoir for sports elites.

Then Mr. President ordered the start of hiring 12,000 specialized graduated professors to supervise school sports.

Creation of a general directorate for school sports in the national education sector.

The President ordered the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to restore the glories of university sports by launching team sports championships between universities and university districts.

Concerning the urban police… a joint committee to produce a final version of a law regulating the work and tasks of the urban police

Mr. President emphasized that the urban police is an urgent necessity in the face of the chaos in the urban field and the strict absence of monitoring and follow-up, especially with regard to the seizure of state lands.

The establishment of a joint committee, urgently, between the interior, housing and urban sectors, in order to produce a final version of a law regulating the work and tasks of the urban police.

That one of the basic tasks of this police, within the law, be the strict control of documents and documents and their conformity, whether related to new constructions across municipal neighborhoods or urban expansions.

That the urban police be placed under ministerial tutelage, and that its members have the possibility of seeking the assistance of the General Directorate of National Security and the National Gendarmerie.

Concerning a presentation on sea water desalination projects… circulating sea water desalination plants across the entire Algerian coastline

– The President of the Republic stressed the need to generalize seawater desalination plants across the entire Algerian coastline, as a strategic plan, especially since the technology of controlling seawater desalination plants has become purely Algerian,

Ensure that water is distributed continuously and judiciously in the face of fluctuations in precipitation prevailing nationally and internationally.

Mr. President ordered a review of the water distribution management plans in accordance with the fair distribution of drinking water between neighborhoods and within a reasonable schedule.

The President also ordered the use of the latest technology to regulate water consumption in order to preserve this vital substance.

At the end of the presentation, Mr. President thanked the Ministers of Higher Education and Vocational Training for training engineers and technicians in the field of water desalination, to raise human control capabilities in our stations.

Regarding the achievement of the Media City… Priority is given to the development of national television and radio

Mr. President stressed that the establishment of the media city must be in line with the development taking place in the field of audiovisual globally.

Giving priority to the development of national television and radio as part of this major media project so that they are a locomotive for the renewal of the audiovisual scene in Algeria.

Redressing the delay recorded in the communication sector at all levels, given the distinctive dynamism witnessed by many government sectors.

At the end of the meeting, a number of appointment decrees and termination of assignments in senior positions in the state were approved.
