Derbal indicated that once the five desalination plants are completed, the water from the dams will be diverted to the agricultural sector as part of a careful and studied agricultural approach, adding that 40 percent will be exceeded through desalination plants.
The minister also confirmed that the groundwater level has declined due to the lack of rainfall, reassuring the citizens that the situation is not worrisome in the summer. We have a good work plan and it will be comfortable and we will be in control of it.

At the end of his speech, the minister urged the need to have a rational consumer culture that values these resources away from all forms of excessive rational exploitation, so that dropping this approach and establishing it as a civilized citizenship behavior is sufficient to overcome all problems, given that a large part of these resources is wasted, which constitutes financial losses that have always exhausted the treasury. state without limiting it to its material form only.
Derbal urged the need to develop a comprehensive vision for a new strategy that guarantees the restructuring and rehabilitation of the Algerian water system, which has an annual general capacity of 1.7 billion cubic meters, including 450 million cubic meters coming from the dams’ stocks, in parallel with the need to rationalize water consumption, of which 70 percent has always gone to the agricultural sector.
