Zitouni: Two permanent exhibitions of the Algerian product in Mauritania and Senegal before the end of the first semester of 2023 – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazairia

The Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, announced today, Tuesday in Algiers, the opening of two permanent exhibitions for Algerian products in Mauritania and Senegal before the end of the first semester of the current year 2023, with efforts to launch other exhibitions in Niger, Nigeria, South Africa and France.
Zitouni explained, during a business meeting with two Algerian exporters of building materials, at the Exhibition Palace, on the sidelines of the edition.
The 25th exhibition “Batimatic”, that “there are advanced negotiations with the authorities in Mauritania and Senegal to open two palaces for exhibitions of Algerian products before the end of the first semester.”
As for the Algerian Exhibition Palace in Niger, the minister revealed that its launch “requires time”, as this facility should be built, unlike the exhibitions in Mauritania and Senegal, where the necessary structures are available, highlighting that these permanent exhibitions will be supervised
The Algerian Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Trade “ALGEX” will be spaces for the promotion of national products “all year round”.
Zitouni pointed out that similar exhibitions will be opened in Nigeria, South Africa and France, as part of a promotional program to introduce Algerian products to the world.
This program includes Algeria’s participation in the most important international exhibitions that would benefit the Algerian products, which were identified according to a study conducted by the “ALGEX” agency.
In a related context, the minister referred to the possibility of organizing a mobile exhibition of building materials touring African countries, calling on exporters to submit their proposals about the exhibitions that they believe provide them with real opportunities to open spaces of cooperation.
Mr. Zittouni highlighted the important export capabilities that Algeria enjoys in various fields, stressing that “the determination of the President of the Republic, Mr.
And he considered that the Building Materials Division in Algeria has “high capabilities” for export, because of the “quality and competitive” materials available to it, which qualifies it to take a place in the global market, stressing that this division can exceed the $1.3 billion barrier that it achieved last year.
In this context, he pointed out that Algeria’s production capacity of cement is about 40 million tons annually, but the national market needs about 20 million tons, which calls for more efforts to export the surplus.
However, the minister regrets not being able to fully export this surplus, given several factors, including the lack of basic structures that help increase cement exports at the level of all Algerian ports.
He also called on all dealers to prepare to “enter the African market with full force,” recalling the importance of the African Free Trade Zone and the fiscal advantages that Algerian exporters can benefit from within it.
During the meeting, the minister listened to the concerns of a number of exporters, mainly related to the basic facilities for export, and some administrative procedures that still hinder their activity, in addition to the need to protect the local product.
In his response to these concerns, Zaitouni stressed the endeavor to remove all obstacles, especially with regard to the provision of base facilities for export, in parallel with the work carried out by the Ministry of Transport “to convert 25 aircraft to freight activity, and to restructure the Maritime Transport Corporation.”
The minister stated that “in the future” workshops will be organized with all actors in the export sector, to advance this division and achieve the set goals.
