Malian Reconciliation Minister Waghi is on a visit to Kidal to launch the peace process emanating from Algeria – the Algerian dialogue

A government delegation led by Mali’s Minister of National Reconciliation, Ismail Waghi, arrived on Friday in Kidal to meet with representatives of the signatories to the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement emanating from the Algiers track, media reported on Saturday.

Media reported that Wague’s visit to Kidal aims to reconnect with the signatory parties to the peace agreement in 2015 and pave the way for holding the next June 18 referendum in all regions of Mali.

The minister stated that he was in Kidal to visit “all representatives of the movements that signed the agreement with us.”

And he explained, “The agreement is very important, and the financial government will work within the framework of the agreement, everything in its power to achieve our goals together. My presence here today is a strong sign to show you that no matter what difficulties we are going through, we are aware that we must be together, and that we must extend our hand so that we can move towards peace, development and security for the benefit of our population.”

He also stressed that: “It is important today that we be able to effectively combat the two enemies: terrorism and insecurity.”

For reference, the last meeting of the agreement follow-up committee, which includes all parties, was held in November 2022.
