The far-right, Eric Zemour, launched a new prophecy, saying: “France will become an Islamic land, as happened in Algeria, which was not, according to him, before Islam entered it.
Zemour said, in statements he posted on his official page: “Algeria was not always Islamic..my ancestors (Jews) were born in Algeria..it was a Christian and Roman land..there was St. Augustine.”
He added, “After Islam conquered it, it has not left it since then… With the exception of the French colonial period between 1930 and 1962, which does not represent a great time in human history, it is an Islamic land.”
The former presidential candidate projected what happened historically in Algeria onto France, saying: “Today we are living through a similar phenomenon that has been accelerated by the ease of movement and the demographic explosion, as humanity has not witnessed 8 billion people in its history.”
Accused of racism and xenophobia, Zemmour does not leave an occasion except to promote the theory of the “great replacement”, which claims that the Arab-Islamic element is on its way to taking the place of the Christian white race in France, a theory that plays on the fears of the right in order to win their electoral votes.
This well-known right-wing extremist in the French media promotes hostile rhetoric against immigrants in his country, and focuses every time on Algerians, who are considered one of the largest communities in France, making controversial statements each time.
And he had previously threatened to cancel the 1968 agreement that guarantees privileges for Algerian immigrants in France, and declared that an apology for his country’s crimes in Algeria would never be on the table if he reached the presidency.
