Minister Ataf; “The Algiers summit attached great importance to the Palestinian cause” – Al-Hiwar Algeria

Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Ataf confirmed today, Wednesday, that the Algerian summit attached great importance to the Palestinian cause, as it is at the heart of the crises in the Arab world. He also stressed that the Palestinian people are facing a racist and extremist occupier.

Ataf said in a speech he delivered while chairing a meeting of the open-ended Arab ministerial committee to support the State of Palestine: “We meet today in the hospitable city of Jeddah to discuss the developments of the Palestinian cause, which is going through difficult circumstances that threaten to liquidate it. His settlement policy is unchecked, in blatant defiance of all international resolutions.”

He added, “The leaders of the Arab countries, during the thirty-first summit held in Algeria, attached great importance to our first issue, given that it lies at the heart of the crises in the Arab world. One of the most prominent outcomes of the Algiers summit was the decision to establish an Arab ministerial committee, chaired by Algeria.

The head of the Algerian diplomacy also indicated that “the mission assigned to this committee is to move at the international level to support the efforts of the State of Palestine to obtain more recognition, obtain full membership in the United Nations, hold an international peace conference, as well as provide international protection for the Palestinian people.”

In conclusion, he pledged that “the committee’s endeavors will remind the international community of its legal, historical and political responsibilities towards the Palestinian cause, and affirm that the usurper entity does not place the achievement of peace among its options and priorities.”
