Ataf reviews with Batili the developments in the political and security situation in Libya – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Ataf, received this evening, Wednesday, a phone call from the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Abdullah Batili.
On this occasion, the two parties reviewed developments in the political and security situation in the brotherly country of Libya in light of the efforts made by the United Nations to enable the Libyan parties to reach a final solution to the crisis that guarantees the dedication of the will of the Libyan people to end the division and turn the page on differences.
In this context, Mr. Ahmed Ataf renewed the expression of Algeria’s continued support for the endeavors initiated by the United Nations in order to support Libyan actors towards crystallizing the necessary consensus that would pave the legal basis for holding presidential and legislative elections as soon as possible.
In conclusion, the two parties agreed to continue the consultations during the visit that the Special Representative of the Secretary-General will soon pay to Algeria, at the invitation of the Algerian Head of Diplomacy.
