Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense chaired, today, Wednesday, the opening ceremony of the National Forum on Cybersecurity, titled “The National Strategy for Cybersecurity: For a Cyber-Resilient Algeria”, which is organized by the Ministry of National Defense at the National Club. The work of the forum was attended by the Prime Minister, the Director of the Cabinet, the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, the Adviser to the President of the Republic in charge of affairs related to defense and security, members of the government, and His Excellency Ambassador Fawzia Boumaiza Mubaraki, Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations in Geneva, as well as officers of brigades and deans of the Ministry of Defense National and People’s National Army staff, as well as high executives in the state, national personalities, experts and specialists.
On this occasion, the President of the Republic delivered the opening speech of the forum, where he emphasized that the requirements of national security necessitate work on developing an integrated national strategy in the digital field:
“The identification of cyber threats, the development of effective control and monitoring mechanisms, and the readiness of the strategy in cases of danger constitute today one of the most important proactive conditions for providing the necessary and complete protection for vital installations in a safe and continuous manner, within the system of ensuring national security, with its political, military, economic, societal and even technological dimensions, which is the matter Which requires developing our integrated national strategy in the digital field, combining proactivity and prevention of threats in cyberspace, protecting systems and data, and ensuring the promotion of a national and national digital culture whose pillar is continuous awareness and strategic vigilance for all institutions.
The President of the Republic added that winning the cyber security bet depends mainly on valuing the human element in which experienced competencies emerge:

For his part, Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People’s National Army delivered a speech on the occasion, at the beginning of which he welcomed the President of the Republic, and congratulated him on the great diplomatic victory achieved by Algeria, by electing, by the overwhelming majority, a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council:
It gives me great pleasure, on this occasion, to extend to the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, my sincere congratulations and blessings on the great diplomatic victory achieved by Algeria, with its election, by an overwhelming majority, by the General Assembly of the United Nations, as a non-permanent member. Mr. Lieutenant General stressed Algeria’s deep awareness of the importance of cybersecurity, which has become an imperative necessity in order to address all threats that may target the sensitive and vital systems of the state:
“Algeria is well aware of the importance of cybersecurity, which has become an imperative necessity, in order to confront all forms of risks and threats targeting sensitive and vital systems of the state, with a proactive and preventive logic.
In order to address these threats, it is necessary to be vigilant, and the efforts of all concerned parties, civil and military, to join hands, and to ensure the sharing of the technical means used, in addition to relying on Algerian competencies, present inside and outside the country, while working to control the various levels of cyberspace. In terms of infrastructure, software and national content, with sovereign logic and a long-term strategic vision.
On the sidelines of this forum, the President of the Republic singled out a meeting for experts and professors, in which he assured them of the need to attach great importance to this sensitive field in order to win stakes related to cybersecurity in order to ensure the strengthening of national security and defense.
After that, the President of the Republic, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the Minister of National Defense left, where he was seen off by the Lieutenant General, the First Chief of Staff of People’s National Army, with an honorary salute to the President of the Republic by a military formation.
