In response to the opinion that the agency made a lot of mistakes in the past and that predicting the worst is its primary mission, the newspaper pointed out that it was the agency that sounded the alarm during the first weeks of 2022 about the approaching Russian invasion of Ukraine, and it was true, and today it predicts the possibility of war. between the United States and China by 2027, when the Chinese army will be ready.
We expect that Russia is about to invade Ukraine. We also see a division in Europe, an increase in populism, waves of activism and protest, and in the extreme cases, violence and internal conflicts, and even the collapse of some states.
The report recalled that the era of peace that followed the Cold War – or rather, the “illusion of peace”, as the newspaper described it – lasted only 12 years, between 1989 and 2001, that is, from the fall of the Berlin Wall to the attacks on the World Trade Center.
Now, the Europeans, who thought they were completely safe from war on their lands, have been awakened by the war between Russia and Ukraine, and CIA experts say, “The escalation of that war into a military confrontation between Russia and the West is the greatest threat to the world in decades.”
The agency is not satisfied with talking about the specter of war, as there are other worrisome issues, such as “new technologies, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence and biotechnology, that are being developed and multiplied faster than the ability of companies and governments to set standards, protect privacy and prevent dangerous consequences,” says the agency’s report.
The report pointed to the danger that may arise from climate change, making water resources scarce and forcing people to migrate.
At the conclusion of the report, the “CIA” says that what is especially frightening after two dark years of Covid-19 is that “all countries around the world will continue to be vulnerable to the emergence of new pathogens that could cause a new devastating epidemic.”
