The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Lakhdar Rakhroukh, stressed today, Monday, in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, the necessity of handing over the first part (140 km) of the project to modernize National Road No. 6 linking Reggane, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Timiaouine, by the end of the current year.
Rakhrokh explained, upon receiving an offer about the project at the level of the “Zigoud Youssef” region, during the work and inspection visit that led him to the state of Burj Badji Mukhtar, that “the first part of the project must be delivered at the end of the year and in the necessary manner, especially since it was supposed to be delivered after 15 days.” months from its launch in 2019.
He pointed out that the delay in the works of the project, for which a financial cover of more than 9.4 billion dinars has been allocated, and in the implementation of which a number of public institutions, led by the Public Utilities Corporation in Sidi Moussa, are participating, causes high costs, stressing the need to find out the reasons for the delay in this part “so that it is not repeated.” in the other parts.”
In this context, the minister highlighted the importance of preparing a book of conditions that takes into account all aspects, especially those related to the availability of equipment at the achievement institution.
For its part, the completion institutions have expressed their commitment to respecting the deadlines and handing over the first part at the end of the current year, especially since the rate of progress of the works is estimated at 52 percent, according to the explanations provided by the director of public works in the state.
Among the measures taken to deliver the project on time, the workshops were fortified with seven quarries to provide gravel, as well as 5 asphalt stations and two reinforced concrete stations, in addition to increasing the equipment and processing hand.
As for the second part of the project, at a distance of 135 km up to the borders of the state of Adrar, the process was registered on April 16, and the Directorate of Public Works is in the process of completing the preparation of the book of conditions and submitting it to the Central Committee for the deals.
For reference, Rakhroukh will give, today, Monday, the start of the work to complete the third part of the project, at a distance of 150 km between Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Timiaouine.
The directorates of public works of the Adrar governorate run a section that extends over a distance of 40 km in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, given that the occupancy rate in it has reached 70 percent, while ensuring the completion of about 65 km in the Adrar region.
Bordj Badji Mokhtar benefited from several development projects in the public works sector, with the aim of improving the living environment in the border areas, by giving more attention to the life centers between Reggane, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Timiaouine, and bringing the administration closer to the citizen, while creating spaces for commercial exchanges between these three regions. To develop trade exchanges within the framework of the free trade area with the Sahel countries.
National Road No. 6, according to the local authorities, is the “most prominent bet” that should be won to enhance the development path as it is the “artery” of economic and social development in this region, as it will contribute to “definitively ending isolation” from the state and further reviving barter with neighboring countries.
Among the projects that the state also benefited from were the completion and equipment of a headquarters for the Directorate of Public Works, the establishment of a regional hangar for equipment, the completion and equipment of a subsection of public works in Timiaouine, as well as the completion and equipment of a maintenance house in the regions of “Zigoud Youssef” and “Aban Ramadan”.
