Signing a memorandum of understanding between the National Iron and Steel Corporation and the Chinese consortium “CMH” – Al-Hiwar Algeria

Today, Saturday, a partnership agreement was signed between the National Iron and Steel Company FRAAL, represented by the President and General Manager of the company, the branch of the Sonaram Complex, the former Algeria Mining Complex, and the Chinese consortium CMH, represented by the general manager of the consortium, Zhou Zhibang, to establish two Algerian-Chinese mixed companies, the first For the exploitation of the Gara Djebeilat mine in Tindouf, and the second for the completion of a complex for the conversion of iron ores in the Gara Djebeilat mine into semi-finished materials (slabs), in the wilaya of Bechar.
In the first leg of the delegation’s work visit to the states of Tindouf and Bechar, the delegation visited the Gara Jbeilat mine west, which is about 130 km southwest of the state of Tindouf, where it briefed the Chinese consortium officials on the extraction of iron ores in the Gara Jbeilat mine, which is divided into three regions. , Gara Jbeilat in the middle, east and west, which represents a total area estimated at 40 thousand hectares, with ease of exploitation due to its presence in open space (exploitation of surface mining), with reserves estimated at 3.5 billion tons.
The Gara Jbeilat mine lies west on a total area of ​​15,000 hectares. As a first stage, 5,000 hectares of it will be exploited, with estimated reserves of 1 billion tons of iron ore.
It is worth noting that, on July 30, 2022, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, supervised the inauguration of the mine and the launch of the exploitation of the iron mine in Gara Jbeilat, as part of a working and inspection visit in the Wilayat of Tindouf.
