The United Nations: France must address the racism rooted in the Algerian police – Al-Hiwar

Today, Friday, the United Nations asked France to address the problems of racism and racial discrimination in the ranks of the security forces.

“The time has come for this country to seriously address the problems of racism and racial discrimination that are rooted in the ranks of the security forces,” said Ravina Shamdasani, a spokeswoman for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, during a press conference in Geneva. This was against the backdrop of the killing of an Algerian boy by a policeman during a security check.

France has been witnessing violent protests for three days because of the “Nael” case, and French President Emmanuel Macron left the European summit in Brussels, on Friday morning, to return to France for an emergency meeting with the government. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne said that all possibilities are on the table to restore order to France.
