The national hydrocarbons company, Sonatrach, has delivered to the Italian company “Eni” the first commercial shipment of liquefied natural gas at the level of the new floating port, to be re-converted to gas in Piombino, Italy, according to a company statement announced today, Tuesday.
And the statement stated, “Within the framework of enhancing its gas exports, Sonatrach delivered to Eni, on July 7, 2023, a shipment of liquefied natural gas amounting to 90 million cubic meters of gas at the level of the new floating port to re-convert the liquefied gas into natural gas in Piombino, Italy.”
This shipment, which was filled at the level of the liquefaction complex GL3Z – Betioua in Algeria, was transported by the liquefied gas tanker owned by the subsidiary company, Hyproc.
This delivery is considered “the first commercial shipment in this port after the end of the experimental phase, which is considered the actual launch of commercial exploitation,” according to the same source.
And “Sonatrach intends to raise its quantities towards this new port on a regular basis, thus strengthening its central role in securing supplies towards Europe, and Italy in particular.”
