Today, Thursday, the Prime Minister, Ayman bin Abdul Rahman, chaired a meeting of the government, which was held at the government palace.

And a statement of the interests of the Prime Ministry stated: The Prime Minister, Mr. Ayman bin Abd al-Rahman, chaired, on Thursday, July 13, 2023, a meeting of the government, devoted to studying the preliminary draft of the corrective finance law for the year 2023 and making presentations related to the status of implementing the action plan related to improving Internet connectivity, as well as the status of implementing the program Enhance grain storage capabilities.

As part of its work schedule, the government studied a preliminary draft for the corrective finance law for the year 2023, which was presented by the Minister of Finance.

The draft of this text comes to include corrective measures and provisions in order to cover the additional regular expenses related, in particular, to some measures taken by the public authorities aimed at preserving and strengthening the purchasing power of families, enhancing food security and supporting the public investment program for the benefit of some states, in order to achieve comprehensive and sustainable growth.

Presentation on the implementation status of the Grain Storage Capacity Enhancement Program

On the other hand, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development made a presentation on the status of implementing the program to enhance grain storage capacities, within the framework of the periodic follow-up of this file by the government.

It should be noted that this study allows for a continuous evaluation process, as well as clarifying the vision regarding the progress of the implementation of this strategic project, which was approved by the President of the Republic.

Algeria ranks second in Africa and third in the Arab world in terms of the number of subscribers to the fixed Internet

The government listened to a presentation by the Minister of Post and Telecommunications on the status of implementing the action plan related to improving Internet connectivity.

The presentation highlighted the efforts made by the state in the field of Internet development in Algeria.

In this regard, it was noted that the capacity of the international telecommunications network for our country increased from 1.5 terabytes per second in 2020 to 7.8 terabytes per second at the end of 2022, which allowed an increase in the minimum flow capacity of the Internet by five (5) times, as it moved from 2 to 10 Mbps, without any impact on the pricing.

With regard to access to the communications network, the sector registered more than 5.12 million fixed internet subscribers at the beginning of 2023, of whom 776,000 were subscribers of fiber optic technology to the home (FTTH) across 58 states, compared to 3.5 million subscribers at the beginning of the year. The year 2020, making Algeria the second in Africa and the third in the Arab world in terms of the number of subscribers to the fixed Internet.

As for the mobile Internet, the number of subscribers has gone from 37 million subscribers in 2020 to 45 million subscribers at the end of 2022, with coverage of the fourth generation (4G) network reaching 82% of the population.
