A road map to exploit modern technologies to revive desert agriculture – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

Participants in a forum on “Challenges of Desert Agriculture in Algeria and the Inevitability of Adopting Modern Technologies to Revive It,” which opened Sunday in El Oued, stressed the importance of using modern technologies to revive desert agriculture.
The Chairman of the Forum, Prof. Ali Qabousa (Al-Wadi University), highlighted in the opening speech the importance of empowering those involved in agricultural investment and those wishing to gain access to the mechanisms of exploitation and control of modern technologies used in desert agriculture.

He added that the modernization of agricultural methods in desert areas has become more than an urgent necessity, as it is the only mechanism that would increase the quantity and improve the quality of agricultural production in a way that contributes to achieving self-sufficiency, which is one of the priorities of the public authorities to provide food products in local markets and open export spaces.

The President of the Chamber of Agriculture, Jaloul Osmani, stressed in his intervention that the interests of the Chamber attach great importance to the role of university institutions, scientific research laboratories, and technical institutes of agriculture affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, given their pivotal role as institutions for field field experiments, which allow ensuring technical support for the various investment activities of professionals (farmers and breeders). ), especially with the adoption of the extension and agricultural training mechanisms that fall within the Ministry’s will strategy.

The official believes that the current challenges to modernize desert agriculture require the conclusion of cooperation and partnership agreements with university institutions and research laboratories to benefit from field and laboratory experiences in the field of agriculture, thus contributing to finding scientific solutions to difficulties that negatively affect the quality and quantity of agricultural production, as the laboratories of university institutions are the only qualified ones. And capable of finding radical practical solutions to this type of farm problems.

Participants in this academic forum (February 26 and 27), which is hosted by the University of Martyr Hama Lakhdar in El-Wadi, will address several axes directly related to the topic of the forum, including “Agricultural Development in the Algerian Desert”, “Risks and Challenges Facing Desert Agriculture” and “Modern Technologies for Agriculture in Desert”, and “The Role of Agricultural Finance in Encouraging Investment in Modern Technologies” and “Monitoring and Auditing and Their Role in Controlling the Risks of Biological Assets,” according to the organizers.

The paragraphs of this scientific demonstration include neighborhood meetings between farmers active in various agricultural divisions with a number of specialists in desert agriculture to address the overall obstacles and concerns they face in the field of agricultural investment.

It should be noted that this forum is organized by the Chamber of Agriculture in the Valley in coordination with the Laboratory of Political Economy between economic development and political challenges for Arab and African countries, the Laboratory of Sustainable Business Administration, and the Innovation Association for the Development of Industrial Agricultural Products and Sugar Beets.
