The 100% subsidiary of Sonatrach, “STEP Polymers Spa”, has been awarded a contract in the form of engineering, supply and construction for the benefit of the international grouping PETROFAC-HQC, at the level of the industrial zone in Arzew (west of the country) for the realization of a petrochemical complex project with a production capacity of 550,000 tons per year of polypropylene. 1.5 billion US dollars.
According to a statement issued by Sonatrach today, Thursday, the selection of the subsidiary company took place after an exclusive international tender was launched in April 2021, which was directed to the pioneers of international companies specialized in the field of realizing petrochemical vehicles. The contract was awarded to the best bidder from the international consortium PETROFAC-HQC, in accordance with the tender awarding procedures of the subsidiary STEP Polymers Spa, for a completion period of 42 months.
