The Director General at the customs level, in charge of organization and customs procedures, Adel Habsa, announced today, Sunday, the application of preferential collection of up to 80 percent for importers of electric cars.

Habsa revealed that customs collection in 2022 reached the value of 1148 billion dinars, which reflects the efforts of the oversight institution in financing the public treasury.

In remarks on the national radio waves; He highlighted that the year 2022 witnessed the customs authorities seizing nearly five million hallucinogenic tablets, in addition to ten tons of treated kif and 45 kilograms of hard drugs, in addition to seizing 520 tons of subsidized materials, and 168 thousand liters of gasoline, in addition to the release of 33 A thousand customs violations, and the arrest of more than twenty thousand people, in the context of confronting all attempts to poison Algerians with all pests.

Regarding the file of importing cars for less than 3 years, the customs official noted the application of preferential collection for importers of cars powered by electric power, as they will benefit from discounts of up to 80 percent of the total paid customs duties and rights.

In addition, the guest of the first focused on the importance of entering the new information system for the customs administration, which is under implementation, and pointed out that it is related to an integrated system that includes 3 elements: a ready data center, linking communications with optical fibers and satellites; Software that has recently been tested.

Habsa stressed that the new information system will spare citizens the need to travel to complete customs procedures, stressing that this system will be gradually practical once the trials are over.

In a related context, Habsa pointed out that the Algerian customs considers the economic dealer as a partner, and therefore is keen to facilitate customs procedures according to the approved economic dealer system, adding that customs contribute to creating a stable and transparent work environment.

Regarding the review of the customs law, the same spokesman mentioned that work groups have been installed at the level of the General Directorate of Customs to discuss the file in its various aspects, stressing that the law in its new dress will give many incentives, as well as ensure the intensification of customs mechanisms, and strengthen the role of customs in advancing investment and wealth creation, not to mention On enhancing state revenues and ensuring the effective management of risks.

Habsa continued: “The amendment aims at greater flexibility in procedures, creating a stable business climate, and activating practical procedures that would refer them to applied texts to ensure that things are organized.

Habsa concluded that the customs law includes providing greater protection for customs personnel and improving their social conditions, in view of what is stipulated in the basic law and the compensatory system.
