Participants in the work of this meeting, which is being organized for the first time in Tunisia, stressed that among the most prominent complex and multifaceted security challenges facing the African continent are trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, terrorism, cybercrime, human trafficking, smuggling of migrants and other transnational crimes.
It is noteworthy that the African Union Mechanism for Security Cooperation “Afripol” is an institution of the African Union, which has a mandate to enhance cooperation between police services in the Member States of the African Union, and works to prevent and combat organized crime, terrorism and cybercrime.
Its statute was approved by the African Union Conference in January 2017.
