The Chairperson of the Committee on Transport, Energy, Industry, Communications, Science and Technology in the African Parliament, Bahja Al-Omali, held a meeting devoted to setting the annual program of the committee’s work.
The Chairperson explained that the intended objective of the meeting is to consult and share about the method of work that the committee will adopt to conduct its work, stressing that listening to the opinions and suggestions of members is important to enrich and improve the performance of the committee to implement the African Union protocols and implement the 2063 Agenda.
Al-Amali focused in her intervention on studying issues related to developing the basic base for transportation and communications and signing the Open Skies Agreement for Africa.
The Chairperson of the Committee stressed the importance of activating the African Union program on linking the continent from its north to its south and from its center to its east and west with railway lines, and confirmed that it would work strictly to complete the African Unity Road and strengthen the roads with optical fibers.
As for the field of energy, the chairwoman of the transport committee has given her attention to the Algerian-Nigerian gas pipelines, which will enable the export of gas and the achievement of development in the continent.
