Algeria Judicial Council.. Inauguration of Demash Aziza, President of the Specialized Commercial Court – Al-Hiwar Algeria

Today, Thursday, the President of the Algiers Judicial Council, Kamal Ghazali, supervised, in Algiers, the inauguration ceremony of Mrs. Damache Aziza, President of the Specialized Commercial Court.

Ghazali said in a speech during the inauguration ceremony that took place in the Algiers Judicial Council, in the presence of the Attorney General of the Council and the local and security authorities, that this inauguration comes within “the framework of applying the provisions of the Civil Procedure Code amended and supplemented by Law 13/22 of July 12, 2022 that established the Specialized Commercial Court “.
The specialized commercial court – Ghazali adds – is concerned with “adjudicating in six specializations, including” intellectual property disputes, commercial companies, especially corporate disputes, and the resolution and liquidation of companies, as well as “judicial settlement, bankruptcy, and disputes of banks and financial institutions with merchants,” in addition to “maritime and air transport disputes , and insurances related to commercial activity and those related to international trade.
In this regard, he explained that the jurisdiction of the aforementioned court extends to the jurisdiction of the councils of Algiers, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, and Boumerdes.
For his part, the Attorney General of the Algerian Judicial Council, Othman Moussa, highlighted that the establishment of the specialized commercial court comes within the framework of “a comprehensive effort to support the commercial and investment movement in our country,” especially after the issuance of the new investment law, and in making “the judiciary play an important and more effective role in the field of Trade and investment”, in addition to “devoting the required legal security in the field of improving the investment climate and accelerating the pace of adjudicating disputes with the required quality and efficiency”, as he pointed out.
On the other hand, Damash explained that this court is considered “a pillar of the Algerian economy and investment,” within the framework of preserving “the privacy of commercial disputes.”
It is noteworthy that these commercial courts were established pursuant to the organic law related to the judicial organization, and the speedy installation of them came according to the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Issuance of the law related to investment in July 2022.
