On Monday morning, the Minister of Interior and Local Communities, Ibrahim Murad, supervised the National Training and Intervention Unit for Civil Protection in the capital to send a protection team to Turkey to assist in rescue and relief operations. The team consists of 89 medical assistants and the synotonic team, which will arrive on Monday evening, to Turkey to participate in the rescue operations, where the minister praised in a statement the competence and professionalism of the civil protection personnel and their quick response to the solidarity operation. Minister Ibrahim Murad said that the kit and equipment were prepared in a short time to help the people in Turkey and Syria, and tomorrow, Tuesday, another rescue team will head to Syria.
Turkey and Syria woke up at dawn today to a devastating earthquake, the death toll of which exceeded a thousand in Turkey and hundreds in Syria, while the operations to extract victims from under the rubble continue at a time when the two countries and their neighbors are still recording strong aftershocks that exceeded 5 degrees and reached 7.5 degrees on the Richter scale.
On the other hand, sources told Al-Hiwar that the Algerian Red Crescent is preparing to ship quantities of humanitarian aid to Turkey, this evening, Monday, consisting of foodstuffs, medical supplies, blankets and mattresses to help mitigate the scale of the disaster.
