Today, Tuesday, the deputies of the National People’s Assembly, by majority, approved the draft law related to the exercise of the trade union right during a plenary session chaired by the Speaker of the Assembly, Ibrahim Bougali, in the presence of the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Youssef Charfa, as well as the Minister of Relations with Parliament, Basma Azwar.
The number of amendments referred to the competent committee was 56, 24 of which were withdrawn, while the committee included 4 amendments that affected Articles 12, 13, 23 and Article 31.
After the voting session, the Minister of Labor confirmed that the draft law “will give impetus to the societal project of our country,” and “will frame trade union work and strengthen the role of trade union organizations in defending rights and achieving social justice.”
The law will also provide – adds the minister – “legal protection for workers’ representatives while allowing strong trade union organizations to emerge in the national arena through their accession to federations and confederations.”
In addition, the law will guarantee “trade union organizations their status as one of the most important institutions of society” and support “freedom of trade union work and fulfill its role in defending the basic rights of workers and building and developing society.”
