Arkab holds bilateral meetings with officials of senior American companies in the energy field – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

On the sidelines of the work of the 41st edition of the “CeraWeek” 2023 energy conference, in the American city of Houston, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Muhammad Arkab, met, on Wednesday, the head of the American Chevron Company (for exploration and production), Clay Neff.

The two sides discussed investment opportunities and partnership between Sonatrach and Chevron in the field of research, exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons, in order to expand the country’s hydrocarbon reserves base, to meet national needs in the long term, as well as to secure global energy supplies, especially towards Europe.

The two sides also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the field of technical and technological support in the oil and gas source and services, as well as in the field of reducing carbon emissions in all fuel value chains.

The Minister and his accompanying delegation also had a field visit to the General Center for Drilling Decision (remote control center), which is affiliated with Chevron, where the Minister listened to a detailed presentation on advanced drilling data, work methods, and direct contact with fields, wells, and areas of operations.

The Minister of Energy and Mines also met with the CEO of the Occidental Petroleum Corporation, Mrs. Vicki Holub, where the talks focused, between the two sides, on studying the status of cooperation relations between the Sonatrach complex and Occidental Petroleum, and ways to strengthen and develop them, especially In the areas of research and exploration for hydrocarbons, and the development of fields, within the framework of the new hydrocarbons law.

At the level of the US Department of Commerce, the Minister of Energy and Mines met with the President and Director General of PPG Energy, an American company for services in the field of electricity and petroleum, where the two sides discussed the exchange of experiences and modern technologies in the field of electric supply and petroleum services, as the two parties agreed to a contract Meetings, via videoconference technology, with the branches of the Sonatrach Group, to discuss technological solutions in the field of petroleum services.

Afterwards, the Minister met with the Vice President of TGS | Energy Data & Intelligence, Vice President of Geophysical Company (TGS | Energy Data & Intelligence), Mr. Duncan Bate.

The two parties discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the field of geological and geophysical studies and services related to hydrocarbons, in order to intensify efforts in the fields of exploration and exploration for oil and gas in Algeria through the implementation of a set of advanced geological and geophysical surveys, as well as in the field of modern technologies for solar energy and wind energy.

In this context, the two parties agreed to draw up a work program, as well as to hold meetings, via videoconference, with the National Geophysics Corporation, a branch of the Sonatrach complex, for technological support in this field.
