Call C Hashemi Asad, Yesterday, Thursday, the Secretary-General of the High Prefecture of the Amazigh language called on Algerian society to take care of its linguistic heritage in all its dialects.
On the sidelines of the award ceremony of the President of the Republic for Amazigh Language and Literature, Asad affirmed, “We are called upon to preserve the rich Amazigh cultural heritage of our ancestors in all its forms and to work on enriching and promoting it.”
He stressed that the Amazigh cultural heritage represents an “essential element” in our Algerian identity, pleading for the valorization and preservation of this heritage in order to perpetuate the Amazigh culture and customs for future generations.
The Secretary-General stated that through “the President’s Award, which is awarded every year, we give the right to the various participants to contribute to enriching our strong linguistic heritage in its various elements and forms of expression.”
He added, “Currently, we are developing a university network across Algerian universities to take care of the Amazigh linguistic issue.
In this regard, he indicated that a partnership agreement was signed between the High Prefecture of Amazigh and the University of Ghardaia to develop research in the field of Amazigh language and literature and the possibility of opening a department for this language.
He stressed that the public authorities are making great efforts to highlight the Amazigh language, to contribute to building and strengthening our rich and diverse national identity in a unified, indivisible country.
It is noteworthy that the President of the Republic Award for Amazigh Language and Literature in its third edition was awarded to Nadia Oqab during a ceremony that also witnessed the awarding of prizes for intangible cultural heritage, Amazigh language sciences and technology.
This award was awarded in the framework of the official celebrations of the revival of the Amazigh year, January 2973, during a ceremony organized at the University of Ghardaia, in the presence of the President of the National People’s Assembly, Ibrahim Bougali, the Minister of Culture and Arts, Suraya Moloji, the advisors of the President of the Republic, and the Secretary-General of the High Province of the Amazigh C. Al-Hashemi Asad, state authorities and local elected officials.
Created in the year 2020, this award aims to encourage research and creativity in order to produce better in the field of Amazigh language and culture, and to value scientific, research and literary achievements in the various different linguistic forms used in Algeria.
The program of official celebrations was also marked by the revival of the Amazigh year, which took place this year under the slogan “January brings us together in one and united Algeria”, by organizing many activities.
