The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Ataf, met in Berlin with the German Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economy and Climate Protection, Robert Habeck. Commissioned by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, according to a statement by the Ministry.

And the statement stated: “At the end of his working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, commissioned by the President of the Republic, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Ataf, met today in Berlin with the German Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economy and Climate Protection, Mr. Robert Habeck.” .

The talks focused on the Algerian-German economic partnership relations and the prospects available for strengthening them, especially in the context of the new projects that the two sides aspire to embody in the field of renewable energies and green hydrogen.

In this context, Minister Ataf welcomed the conclusion of an agreement between Germany, Austria and Italy on the SouthH2 Corridor project, a step that paves the way for a broader agreement within the European Union in support of this project, which aims to cover 10% of Europe’s energy needs, the statement adds. .

The two parties also discussed – according to the same source – the upcoming bilateral benefits, as they stressed the need to start preparing for the next session of the joint economic committee between the two countries, by organizing a meeting at the level of experts in Algeria next October to assess the progress made in achieving the goals of the bilateral partnership at various levels.

On the other hand, “the two ministers reviewed the reality of relations between Algeria and the European Union and ways for European partners to provide greater support for the efforts made by our country to spread security and stability in the Sahel and Sahara region.”

In conclusion, Minister Ahmed Ataf invited the German Vice Chancellor, Robert Habeck, to carry out an official visit to Algeria. The latter welcomed the invitation to be embodied at the beginning of next year.
