Bin Salman: We will not allow the Arab region to turn into a field for conflicts – the Algerian dialogue

The Saudi Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, affirmed at the opening of the Arab Summit in Jeddah, today, Friday, that Saudi Arabia will not allow the Arab region to turn into a field of conflicts, stressing the continuation of peace and cooperation.

After assuming the presidency of the 32nd Arab Summit from Algeria, bin Salman said, “We assure neighboring countries and friends in the West and East that we are moving forward for peace, goodness, cooperation and construction, in a way that achieves the interests of our peoples and preserves the rights of our nation, and the development process has been affected as a result of the conflicts that people have suffered from during the past years.”

The Saudi Crown Prince welcomed President Bashar Al-Assad, and said, “Today, we are pleased with the presence of His Excellency President Bashar Al-Assad at this summit, and we hope that Syria’s return to the Arab League will contribute to supporting Syria’s security, ending the crisis, and achieving prosperity for its people.” He also welcomed the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, who was given the floor during the summit, and bin Salman spoke about “the kingdom’s neutral and supportive position to resolve the crisis politically in Ukraine.”

With regard to the Palestinian cause, on which the Arab leaders agreed on its centrality at the “Algeria Summit” in early November 2022, bin Salman reaffirmed this position and the rights of the Palestinian people, and he also appreciated Saudi Arabia’s efforts to mediate between the two parties to the conflict in Sudan, adding that “the Palestinian cause is the cause of the Arabs.” And Muslims are pivotal and come at the top of the Kingdom’s priorities … and we work together to reach a solution to it.” While he talked about “dedicating efforts to help the Yemeni parties to find a solution to the crisis in their country.” With regard to Sudan, the summit president expressed hope that “the language of dialogue will be the basis for preserving The unity of Sudan and the security and capabilities of its people.” The spokesman welcomed the signing of the Jeddah Declaration by the two parties to the conflict in Sudan, which he hopes will lead to an effective ceasefire.
