Today, Thursday, Ibrahim Boghali, President of the National People’s Assembly, inaugurated the work of the preparatory committees for the Conference of the Councils of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Dubogali stressed that the strong Islamic nation with its qualifications must mobilize its energies to deal with the stakes imposed by the times, especially the issue of inflation and the phenomena of terrorism and hatred, calling on the other hand to study the recent developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Boghali said, “While the world is recovering from the effects of the Corona pandemic, inflation is hitting the world’s economies as a result of the energy and food crises, the unprecedented spending in the military field, the reception of refugees and people displaced from conflicts, and the effects of climate change.”
Boghali, who chaired the Executive Committee at the preparatory meeting for the 17th session of the Conference of the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, whose works Algeria will host on Sunday and Monday, raised the alarming situation in Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, which is known as “serious complications” daily from the systematic killing of innocent youth and demolitions. Houses in addition to settlement expansion and the demarcation of the system of racial discrimination against the Palestinians, as confirmed by the report of “Amnesty International” and “Human Rights Watch”, in addition to the violation of the sanctities of Al-Aqsa Mosque with the direct participation of an extremist Zionist minister.
Accordingly, Boghali called for the upcoming preparatory meetings of the “Permanent Committee on Palestine to study these developments in depth and to present appropriate recommendations to the conference at its 17th session.”
He also appealed to parliamentarians to focus their work on the phenomenon of exacerbation of terrorism and its expansion, especially in Africa, as well as the continuation of conflicts and crises and their dire effects, similar to the Ukrainian crisis and the complications of climate change.
Bogali drew attention to “the seriousness of the phenomena and practices of hatred and racism against Islam,” denouncing in the context the “strongest expressions of the heinous crime” after an extremist in Stockholm, Sweden, burned the Holy Qur’an, and another in The Hague, Netherlands, who did the same.
Boghali added, “I have no doubt that our conference will respond strongly to this barbaric and racist behavior.”
The speaker did not miss the opportunity to address the electronic and digital developments and their effects on the Islamic nation and its intellectual and societal security, and “which generates the challenge of dismantling and targeting the personality and the spirit of belonging, and thus targeting the unity of reference.”
In this regard, he mentioned “the enormous and dangerous role of social networks that require collective action to protect our intellectual security and strengthen the immunity of the Islamic community.”
Considering “today’s obsession and the mission of this millennium,” the Chairman of the Executive Committee revealed that “the Algerian delegation will have proposals in this regard.”
The meeting will also be – according to Boghali – “an opportunity to list the efforts made to protect human rights, including Muslim minorities and vulnerable groups during conflicts, and the role of women as parliamentarians in various fields of life.”
He also stressed the need to continue improving and rationalizing the work of the Union and adjusting its agenda in order to avoid repetition and finding out the reasons for not implementing the decisions taken in the past.
