Mohamed Abdel Hafeez Hani, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, received today, Saturday, at the ministry’s headquarters, Senegalese Minister of Agriculture, Rural Equipment and Food Sovereignty, Ali Nguel Nyday, accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to Algeria, and in the presence of executives from the two countries. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between the two countries in the agricultural field.
The meeting was an opportunity to consolidate brotherly relations and friendship between the two countries and an occasion to stand on the most important achievements of the sector, especially that the State of Senegal is the guest of honor for the International Exhibition of Agriculture, Livestock Breeding and Food Industries SIPSA between 22 and 25 May 2023 at the Maritime Pine Exhibition Palace – Savex.
In this context, the minister reviewed the strategy adopted by the sector, which aims to develop and modernize agriculture in Algeria.
The minister also praised the pioneering Algerian experience in the field of scientific research, by strengthening the role of institutes and training and research centers affiliated with the sector, which actively participate in the advancement of agriculture.
For his part, the Senegalese minister expressed his admiration for the level of progress recorded in the agricultural field in Algeria, especially with regard to scientific research, the production of seeds of all kinds, the production of dates, especially the Deglet Nour variety, and olive oil, expressing his desire to expand cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
In this regard, the two parties agreed to prepare a draft cooperation agreement between the two countries in the field of research and training, especially with regard to seed production.
