Today, Sunday, the Minister of Interior and Local Communities, Ibrahim Murad, and Salima Masrati, President of the Supreme Authority for Transparency and Prevention and Combating Corruption, discussed ways of cooperation on preventing and combating corruption, especially among local elected officials.
During his meeting with Salima Masrati, to discuss ways to enhance coordination with the authority regarding measures related to preventing and combating corruption, the minister affirmed his full readiness to grant all accompaniment to this constitutional body, especially within the framework of the course of modernizing the procedures for declaring ownership of local elected officials that it initiated.
A statement by the Ministry of Interior and Local Communities stated that Minister Ibrahim Murad expressed his commitment to support the authority in organizing regional meetings to sensitize local elected officials on the obligation to declare property, as well as the importance of promoting the role of civil society in the field of transparency and preventing and combating corruption. The two sides also discussed the frameworks of cooperation between the ministry and the authority regarding the formation of local elected officials in the field of preventing and combating corruption.
These steps come close to announcing the national anti-corruption strategy, which will be approved during the first trimester of the current year, according to previous statements by the President of the Supreme Authority for Transparency, Prevention and Combating Corruption, within the framework of strengthening the fight against the phenomenon, in implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
