The Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belabed, said Thursday in Algiers that half a million copies of textbooks have so far been uploaded to digital boards by parents of students..
In a public session in the National People’s Assembly devoted to answering oral questions, the minister said that the ministry “recorded the downloading of half a million copies of the textbook on digital tablets by students’ parents, which means that half a million students have acquired electronic tablets to date.”
On the same occasion, the minister referred to “equipping 1,629 educational institutions with electronic boards as part of the procedures followed by the sector this season,” considering that “downloading this number of copies of the textbook on electronic boards would contribute to the state’s efforts to equip schools with digital boards.”
He added that the ministry is currently working, in cooperation with the National Office for Distance Education and the National Institute of Programs, to “issue digitized lessons for use at the appropriate time.”
On the other hand, Belabed said that the educational programs will be “reconsidered completely, with the involvement of experts, specialists and all concerned parties,” noting that the ministry “will take the necessary time for this issue.”
