Foiling attempts to enter 4 quintals from Al-Kif from Morocco – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

The Ministry of National Defense announced the weekly operational outcome related to combating terrorism and combating organized crime in all its forms, which resulted in thwarting attempts to bring in significant quantities of drugs across the border with Morocco and arresting more than 200 illegal immigrants.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of National Defense, today, Wednesday, units and detachments of People’s National Army carried out, during the period from March 29 to April 04, 2023, several operations that yielded qualitative results that reflect the extent of the high professionalism, vigilance and constant readiness of our armed forces throughout the national territory, where Within the framework of combating terrorism and securing national borders, joint detachments of People’s National Army arrested 14 elements supporting terrorist groups in separate operations across the national territory, while an FMPK submachine gun was seized during a search operation in Tamanrasset.

And within the framework of the fight against organized crime, joint detachments of People’s National Army, in coordination with the various security services, stopped during operations across the military regions 44 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to bring in large quantities of drugs across the border with Morocco, estimated at 4 quintals and 60 kilograms of treated kif, While 28,907 hallucinogenic tablets were seized.

In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezzam, Tindouf and Djanet, detachments of People’s National Army arrested 174 people and seized 22 vehicles, 147 generators, 45 hammers and a metal detector, in addition to 66 tons of a mixture of gold ore and stones, and quantities of explosives, detonating equipment and supplies. Others used in illegal gold exploration operations, while 8 other people were arrested and 10 hunting rifles, an automatic pistol, and huge amounts of foodstuffs destined for smuggling and speculation estimated at 66 tons, as well as 3,000 units of various fireworks, were arrested, during separate operations across the national territory.

On the other hand, border guards, in coordination with the National Gendarmerie and Customs, thwarted attempts to smuggle large quantities of fuel estimated at 17,146 liters in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Souk Ahras, El Tarf and Tebessa, while 227 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.
