Guterres praises Algeria’s diplomatic efforts – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

During this session, cooperation relations between Algeria and the United Nations and ways to strengthen them were reviewed, especially in view of Algeria’s accession to the Security Council during the period between 2024 and 2025. On the other hand, the two parties discussed many regional files, such as the situation in the Sahel and Sahara region and political developments in the Republic of Mali in light of the efforts made by Algeria to ensure the resumption of the path of implementing the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement, as well as the crises in Libya, Yemen and Sudan, and the efforts of the United Nations to revive the path. political in order to decolonize Western Sahara. The head of Algerian diplomacy also took advantage of this opportunity to brief the Secretary-General on the outcome of the Algerian presidency of the thirty-first session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level.
