Algeria aspires, as confirmed yesterday, Friday, in Ghardaïa, Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Yassine Hammadi, to benefit from its tourism capabilities, especially desert tourism, which allows attracting national and foreign investments, given the enormous tourism potential that the country has.
On the occasion of the launch of the fifth edition of the International Festival of Desert Tourism, Hammadi indicated, in the presence of the Minister of Culture and Arts, Suria Moulouji, the Wali of Ghardaia, Abdallah Abi Nouar, representatives of the President of the National People’s Assembly, foreign diplomats accredited to Algeria, as well as local deputies and elected officials, that “the tourism sector is heading Towards a promising future in view of the unique natural and cultural potential that it has, as well as the world-class sites in the Algerian desert.
The minister stressed that “the development of tourism, as a sector with very promising prospects in our country, is one of the priorities of the program of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune,” noting that his ministerial department is working to make Algeria a tourist destination par excellence.
In this context, Mr. Hammadi indicated that “the challenge is to build + the Algerian destination in the field of tourism + through a real strategy for comprehensive tourism promotion that depends on the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, especially the professionals of the sector who are required to work together to embody this challenge.”
In this regard, he went on to say, “We have the enormous natural, cultural, architectural and tourism potentials and capabilities that are available in thousand-year-old palaces in southern Algeria in order to make Algeria a major destination for tourism that respects culture and the environment and a basic tourist destination,” recalling some heritage sites classified in the heritage of humanity, such as Al-Ahqaar and Tassili. Nagar and palaces.
For this purpose, the minister says, “we are launching the destination Route des Kours from Ghardaia with a group of diplomats, journalists and other tour operators in order to promote tourism.”
The launch of the fifth edition of the International Festival of Desert Tourism was marked by a rich set of activities, with the display of beautiful murals by artists and a group of talented people from different states of southern Algeria, in addition to the presentation of links of folk dance through the approach of Emir Abdelkader and Mohamed Khamenesti Square.
The program of this edition of the festival (December 9-11, 2022) defines the launch of many cultural, artistic and sports activities on the sidelines of this event, especially exhibitions of traditional industry products in the southern states, and seminars on desert tourism, culinary arts and marketing of traditional industry products and their impact on the local economy, In addition to exhibitions on combat sports, cycling and aviation.
