In pictures, progress in the works of the sea water desalination plant in Boumerdes – Al-Houwar, Algeria

The Minister of Energy, Mohamed Arkab, expressed his satisfaction with the pace of completion of the seawater desalination plant project, during the inspection visit to the wilaya of Boumerdes, to stand with the Wali of the wilaya of Boumerdes, Yahya Yahyatne, and the head of the Wilaya People’s Assembly, in the presence of the representatives of parliament, the family of the concerned sectors, the local and security authorities, on the progress Completion of the two sea water desalination plants projects, in Kab Jannat and Korso, in which the works are in full swing for the final delivery of the project within the specified deadlines. The state of Boumerdes benefited from it, within the framework of the emergency program set up by the government to confront the drinking water crisis. It is an important project related to the completion of a seawater desalination plant in the municipality of Gourso, with a daily production capacity of 80,000 cubic meters.

This project is expected to contribute to the provision of drinking water to the western municipalities of the state, which are experiencing a crisis in the supply of this natural resource. In addition to this is the project to expand the current desalination plant in the municipality of Ras Jannat, thus increasing the production capacity from 100,000 to 300,000 cubic meters. Per day

In this regard, the Minister of Energy demanded the necessity of strengthening additional teams in order to accelerate the pace of completion and the delivery of this important project within the specified deadlines, noting that the state aspires to meet the needs of the Algerian population with regard to water security to 60 percent, which is the percentage that makes the sector comfortable in terms of Availability of drinking water.

For his part, the governor stressed that work is in full swing to complete the works in anticipation of the final handover of the project, pointing to the mobilization of all material means and human capabilities, so that high-precision techniques have been developed in construction and under the supervision of 100% Algerian competencies, from studies and completion, which will contribute to strengthening capabilities. Productivity of drinking water, thus achieving water security for the citizen.

The head of the general manager of the Algerian Energy Company, in charge of the completion of seawater desalination plants projects, also confirmed that the Cap Jannat station falls within the complementary program of the President of the Republic, which includes the construction and completion of 5 major stations with an hour of 300 thousand cubic meters per day. And the completion of the vital bases and offices in the projects, and after the initial studies, today the Minister of Energy visited the station to follow up, accompanied by the Wali of Boumerdes Province, where the first cubic meter of concrete was installed in this project, which will be completed during the month of December 2024, and with which the completion rate reached 5 percent.
