The Minister of Industry, Ahmed Zagdar, and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and the Minister of Labor, Youssef Chemali, signed today, Tuesday in Algeria, a roadmap for the period 2023-2025 to enhance economic cooperation between Algeria and Jordan.
The signing of this document comes at the conclusion of the visit of the multisectoral Jordanian ministerial delegation to Algeria, which witnessed an expanded meeting between members of the Algerian and Jordanian delegations and bilateral meetings between Algerian ministers and their Jordanian counterparts, during which the two sides assessed the status of bilateral cooperation in various fields and discussed ways to raise the level of economic and trade exchange and enhance the flow of intra-investment. .
It falls within the framework of the implementation of the outcomes of the meeting brought together by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah II Bin Al Hussein, and the embodiment of their common desire to strengthen cooperation between Algeria and Jordan.
The signed roadmap included the most important agreed-upon cooperation activities and mechanisms to implement them in the short and medium term.
The most important points related to activating the mechanisms of bilateral cooperation, foremost of which is the preparation of the work of the ninth session of the Algerian-Jordanian joint committee, which is scheduled to be held in Amman next June, strengthening the legal framework for bilateral cooperation and strengthening the role of sectoral technical committees and joint working teams.
In order to promote trade exchanges and raise the volume of intra-investments, the roadmap stipulated activating the concluded cooperation, trade and investment agreements, activating the Businessmen Council, exchanging information on investment and foreign trade opportunities in the two countries, holding mutual meetings and visits between economic dealers and businessmen to discuss cooperation and partnership opportunities available in Algeria and Jordan. Encouraging them to participate in exhibitions held in both countries. In this context, it was agreed to schedule an exhibition of Algerian products in Jordan during the current year.
The document also included the agreement of the two parties to continue implementing and accelerating cooperation projects and work to explore other priority areas, especially the sectors of industry, energy and mines, agriculture, transport, tourism, health, labor, social security and culture.
Embodiment of partnership projects in many industrial branches
With regard to the industrial sector, the road map provided for studying ways and possibilities of embodying partnership projects in the fields of manufacturing industries, industrial handling, building materials, chemical industries, and electrical and electronic industries.
It also referred to the activation of the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of preparing and realizing industrial zones between the National Agency for Mediation and Real Estate Control and the Jordan Industrial Estates Company.
