The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Duarte Pacheco, congratulated the President of the Republic on the occasion of Algeria’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2024-2025, stressing that “Algeria’s experience and its leadership role in combating terrorism will benefit this body with regard to maintaining security and peace in the world.”
In a message sent to the President of the Republic, Pacheco wrote: “Mr. President, I am writing to you in my capacity as President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to offer you, in my name and on behalf of this inter-parliamentary body, my warmest congratulations on the election of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the term 2024- 2025″.
He continued: “I would like to express, through you, Mr. President, that Algeria is receptive to occupy this highly responsible position, and I am sure that Algeria’s experience and its leadership role in combating terrorism will greatly benefit this body in its role of maintaining security and peace in the world.”
“I also take this opportunity to congratulate you, Mr. President, on your appointment by the African Union as a leader in the field of combating terrorism on the African continent,” Pacheco continued in his message, adding: “This is a well-deserved recognition of your expertise and that of Algeria in these extremely important tasks.”
