The governor of the state of Oran, Saeed Saoud, revealed that the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, gave instructions to complete a statue of Prince Abdelkader, with a height of 42 meters, in Oran, which is considered the highest in the world.
Saoud stated, during his supervision of an evaluation meeting with executives from the Ministry of the Interior, that the state had obtained the amount allocated for the project of the Emir Abdelkader statue and a museum of its own, which will be completed at the top of the “Marjajo” mountain in Oran and will be completed by the end of 2024.
He also added, “The statue will be 42 meters high and will be the largest and highest after the 39-meter-high statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.”
As for the value of the project, it will approach 120 billion centimeters, indicating that the statue will carry a sword that shines with a light directed towards the qiblah to guide the worshipers, and its horse will have five pillars symbolizing the five pillars of Islam.
