Minister of Trade and Export Promotion Kamal Rizik confirmed, during his inauguration of the national doors for the export of olive oil at the headquarters of the “Algex” agency, that Algeria had been able to export 600 thousand liters of olive oil to about 19 countries through 78 exporters at a value of $ 2 million.
Minister Rizik urged the need to increase the production and export of olive oil, because it is considered insufficient and substandard if compared to the bounties that Algeria abounds in in this division across the various parts of the country.
A senior official in the trade sector explained that his interests are ready to accompany the professionals of the Olive Oil Division in order to support them, overcome the difficulties they face, and raise the value of exports.
“We are ready to accompany the professionals of the Olive Oil Division and other divisions to export these wonderful products, and it is necessary to take care of this division because it has enormous export capabilities,” Razik said.
The Minister of Trade said, “The countries that have obtained shares in the international market are not better than us,” adding that there is no competition in the world about olive oil without the presence of the Algerian product in the first ranks, and this indicates its quality.
Minister Razik appreciated the quality of the Algerian product offered to the local and foreign markets, the importance of trust in it, explaining that “Algerian olive oil is one of the best and finest types in the Mediterranean, and with time it will sweep the global market.”
Minister Razik also revealed the goal of his sector in this basic division of the Algerian table, and to work to reach the export of 5 million dollars to 50 countries.
