Kheladi chairs a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Arab Economic and Social Councils – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

The President of the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council, Sidi Mohamed Bouchnak Kheladi, chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Arab Economic and Social Councils and similar bodies, during which the members discussed a number of points.

Members of the Federation’s Board of Directors participated in the meeting, which took place yesterday, Monday, via video conference technology, in the presence of Fayez Al-Mutairi, Director General of the Arab Labor Organization in its capacity as the sponsor of the federation, and Mr. Muhammad Al-Amin Jafari in his capacity as Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Economic and Social Councils and similar bodies.
It is noteworthy that Algeria has assumed the presidency of the Union of Arab Economic and Social Councils and similar bodies since June 2022 and its general secretariat since 2015.
After the opening speech delivered by the President of the Federation, Mr. Bushnaq Khalladi, and the intervention of the Director General of the Arab Labor Organization, Fayez Al-Mutairi, the members of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Arab Economic and Social Councils and similar bodies discussed the points included in the agenda of the meeting, represented in presenting and studying a document entitled: “For Security Water, energy and food in the Arab world”, presenting and studying projects for designing the union’s logo and website, and setting up the committee charged with reviewing the basic law of the union.
The statement pointed out that regarding the document entitled “For Water, Energy and Food Security in the Arab World,” the meeting of the General Assembly held in June 2022 in Algiers studied the road map for the period 2022-2025 entitled “economic sovereignty and sustainable development.” The latter is divided into three The main axes are water security, energy security and food security.
The source emphasized that this option came “in response to the current disturbing situation in the Arab world, which requires urgent, comprehensive and coordinated measures in reality.
Water, food and energy are closely related resources and issues and in the face of increasing demand caused by population growth, the biggest challenge is to ensure sustainable, adequate and equitable access to these resources.
The participants in the meeting relied on a problem-by-problem approach, highlighting the potential links between them. Accordingly, the three files were divided into separate working groups.
Jordan pledged to lead the water security file, while Algeria offered to lead the energy security file, and Egypt pledged to follow up on the food security file.
On the other hand, the Algerian National Economic, Social and Environmental Council initiated two projects related to the logo and the website of the Union, which he presented to the members of the Board of Directors for discussion and enrichment. Those who unanimously welcomed the initiative of the Algerian Economic, Social and Environmental Council and expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the work presented, since the proposed version of the site is easy to use and dynamic. It is informative, while the presented version of the logo took into account the elements that represent the values ​​of the union, such as dialogue, development, and union, the source adds.
During this meeting, the committee responsible for reviewing the basic law of the federation was also installed, according to the statement, which confirmed that the committee, which is chaired by Egypt, will be tasked with examining the preparation of a new draft law for the federation.
The members of the Federation’s Board of Directors also welcomed the request of Mr. Musa Ayoub Shteiwi, Vice President of the Federation and President of the Jordanian Economic and Social Council, to host the next General Assembly of the Federation in his country, Jordan.
