The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, represented the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, at the 40th Summit of the Steering Committee of Heads of State and Government of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), which was held via videoconferencing technology.
According to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the summit focused on assessing the progress made in embodying the development goals of the continental agenda 2063, as well as the priorities of the current stage, especially ways to enable African countries to face the economic challenges posed by the acute crisis in international relations against the background of the war in Ukraine.
Regarding the speech, Lamamra stressed that the President of the Republic attaches great importance to the development of the national economy and the promotion of economic integration regionally and continentally, referring to the positive results achieved by the economic recovery program launched by the President at the national level and to the continuous efforts made by Algeria to enhance its contribution to the embodiment of the goals of the Union Development Agency. Africa – NEPAD – by advancing its developmental and structural projects with a continental dimension.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also conveyed the greetings of President Tebboune and his praise to his brother, President Paul Kagame, for his wise management and distinguished presidency of the work of the Steering Committee during the past period. fully in carrying out his duties and leading the NEPAD Agency towards achieving more achievements in a way that serves the interests of the countries and peoples of the continent.
It is noteworthy that a new Chairman of the Steering Committee was elected to succeed the President of the Republic of Rwanda, who ended his term at the head of this body.
